Remains identified as missing woman

It was a somewhat inevitable announcement that many hoped would never come.

"Thursday the remains of Linda Losacano was discovered," said Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco.

Losacano was the 49-year-old mother who went missing from her Wesley Chapel home in April.

Friends and family held out hope Losacano was alive -- those hopes were dashed by Monday's announcement.

A SWAT team was called to her home in early May after Pasco County deputies went to check on Losacano's 5-year-old daughter.

Losacano hadn't been seen or heard from since mid April, and on May 6 family members were worried about her little girl.

The little girl was in the custody of her father and Losacano's long-time boyfriend Timothy Dean Arnold.

Deputies say they entered the home to find the girl unharmed.

As they left, investigators say they heard a gunshot, which turned out to be the sound of Arnold taking his own life.

"If it wasn't for their heroic action on May the 6 a little girl who's now living in New Hampshire may not be alive," said Nocco.

They found Arnold's body inside but still no trace of Losacano, that is until hunters found her body in a wooded area off Wesley Chapel Boulevard Thursday.

The people who knew Linda Losacano and they say the announcement that her remains have been identified is no doubt bittersweet.

"I'm happy for the family, at least now they'll have closure," said neighbor Robert Lupo.

Lupo lives across the street from where the family once lived.

He says he saw yellow tape on Wesley Chapel Boulevard on Thursday and had a feeling.

"I saw police in the woods and i saw the crime tape, the scene tape on the side of the road and it just clicked and said you know, somebody probably stumbled across the body," said Lupo.

Neighbors who knew her say Losacano is missed and will never be forgotten.

Investigators say the prime suspect in this case is Arnold.

They say the evidence gives them no reason to believe anyone else was involved in her disappearance or death.
