RUSKIN (FOX 13) -

An elderly Bay area man perished early Sunday morning when a fire broke out at a residence in Ruskin.

Filiberto Morquecho, 81, was pronounced dead at the scene just before 7 a.m.

According to a Hillsborough Fire Rescue report emergency service personnel were dispatched to 210 4th Ave. Southeast in response to a fire call.

When the first unit arrived the medium-sized wood frame house was fully involved. A water supply was established and they began to battle the blaze as other units arrived.

During an initial search of the structure Morquecho was found close to the front door, in a hallway. Because the fire was so intense he had no chance of survival.

Two other unidentified males inside the home at the time managed to exit without injury. An adjacent residence was not damaged due to the efforts of the HCFR crews.

The official cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hillsborough County Fire Marshall's office and the State Fire Marshall's Office.
