Emergency service personnel and law enforcement officers were disaptched to this Port Charlotte home early Sunday morning.

Detectives in Charlotte County are conducting a death investigation.
Early Sunday morning a three-year-old Port Charlotte boy suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
The unidentified child was transported to Peace River Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
According to a Charlotte County Sheriff's Office report the incident occurred at approximately 3:40 a.m. at 21302 Hubbard Ave. in Port Charlotte.
Investigators say the little boy apparently came in contact with an unsecured firearm. The weapon discharged and he was hit.
The parents have been interviewed by detectives and no charges have been filed at this time.
The investigation continues.
