Authorities in Sarasota County have arrested four women in connection with a string of burglaries that occurred in the Southgate Community.
Samantha Smith, Brandy Kinney, Alyssa Conrad and Caroline Catarzi are facing a variety of charges including burglary. All four were booked into the Sarasota County Jail where they are being held on bond.
According to a Sarasota County Sheriff's Office report the suspects committed the alleged crimes to support their drug habits.
Investigators say the break-ins occurred within the past two weeks.
Conrad, 23, and Catarzi, 20, are each facing five counts of burglary, one count of fraud and one count of dealing in stolen property.
Smith, 19, and Kinney, 19, are charged with five counts of burglary. The suspects stole a variety of valuables including cash and jewelry during the spree.
Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues. Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department are also checking their records to see if the suspects could be tied to any of their unsolved burglary cases.
The burglary ring was busted Thursday night when deputies looking for Catarzi, the alleged ring leader, pulled over a silver KIA carrying three of the suspects. Inside the vehicle were a ‘plethora' of stolen items.
