Nearly all lines in the increasingly tangled sex scandal involving Petraeus lead back to Jill Kelley.
A Pentagon spokesman said it was decided the pass suspension would be in the best interest of the Air Force base community. Kelley can still enter the base but now must report to the visitor center and sign in like everyone who doesn't have a pass.
TAMPA (FOX 13) -
The Seattle Times has obtained and published the infamous shirtless photo of an FBI agent in the middle of the sex scandal that forced General David Petraeus to resign as head of the CIA.
The photo shows 47-year-old Fredrick W. Humphries II without his shirt on, standing between two life-like, bare-chested target dummies. According to the report, Humphries sent the picture to several people as a joke, because Humphries, who is bald and was not wearing a shirt, resembled the dummies.
Humphries was drawn into the scandal when Jill Kelley contacted him to complain about anonymous, harassing e-mails. The FBI eventually investigated them and found out they came from Paula Broadwell, who was having an affair with General Petraeus.
Humphries is under an internal investigation by the FBI after he reportedly took too personal of an interest in the case.
According to reports in the Seattle Times and the New York Times, Humphries contacted U.S. Representative Dave Reichert over concerns the investigation into the e-mails was stalled for political reasons.
And the Seattle Times reports that he went outside the FBI to complain about the investigation because of the shirtless photo.
"But two sources said Humphries decided to go outside the bureau when his concerns about the progress of the investigation — which he believed involved national security — were met with an internal investigation into a shirtless photograph of Humphries found in Kelley's email," the Seattle Times reported.
Humphries, who lives in Hillsborough County in Dover, is the same agent who shot and killed a knife-wielding man outside MacDill Air Force Base in May of 2010. That shooting was later ruled justified.
