Detectives with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office are looking for clues in the early morning murder of a Palmetto man.
The unidentified male was among a trio of robbery victims accosted early Sunday morning at the Oakwood Estates apartment complex on 21st St. East.
According to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report deputies were dispatched to the scene at approximately 1:30 a.m. in response to a home invasion/robbery call.
Witnesses say three armed black males approached the victims who were standing outside a duplex. As the suspects got closer the three men began to retreat.
The suspects then struck two of the victims with their weapons. The armed men eventually took off with several of the victim's personal items.
The deceased man retreated inside the duplex where he was located unresponsive. Emergency medical personnel attempted to revive him but were unsuccessful.
His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Oakwood Estates has had its share of violent crimes in the past five years. In August 2010 19-year-old Christopher Rouse was shot to death outside the complex. No arrests have been made in that case.
