A 25-year-old Bay area man being sought on warrants out of Hillsborough and Pinellas counties was arrested early Friday following a short chase near Oldsmar.
Andre L. Miles was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on a variety of charges including aggravated fleeing to elude and drug possession. He is being held without bond.
According to a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office report Miles was being pursued for his role in an armed home invasion case that occurred in September.
Late Thursday members of the department's Violent Crimes Task Force received a tip that Miles was spotted driving a rented Chevrolet pick-up truck near State Road 580 in Oldsmar.
Deputies placed stop sticks in the roadway near the SR 580 Bridge and waited for Miles. The sticks punctured the passenger side front tire of the suspect vehicle but Miles reversed the truck and rammed a deputy's cruiser.
Two other PCSO vehicles surrounded Miles vehicle and prevented him from taking off. As deputies removed the suspect from the vehicle a .45-caliber Colt handgun fell from his waistband onto the seat of the truck.
A report indicates the weapon was reported stolen in a residential burglary that occurred in Pinellas County in August. Miles suffered some abrasions during his apprehension but nobody else was injured.
Investigators say the suspect has a lengthy criminal history both as a juvenile and as an adult.
At the time of this arrest detectives in Hillsborough County issued a warrant for his arrest on fleeing to elude and violation of probation charges.
Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
