A 49-year-old Tampa man is facing armed robbery charges after he allegedly took cash from a teller Friday afternoon at the Bank of America location at 100 North Westshore Blvd.
Thomas ‘Tommy' Raymond Cunneen III is being held without bond at the Hillsborough County Jail.
According to a Tampa Police Department report the suspect presented a note to a teller demanding money just after 4:30 p.m. A weapon was seen in a briefcase being carried by the suspect.
He then fled the bank on foot but was seen by a bank employee entering the Westshore Mall. A perimeter was set up around the bank and the mall in an effort to capture the suspect.
A description of Cunneen III was transmitted throughout the area. A short time later the suspect was observed on the south side of the retail outlet by TPD officers.
Cunneen III was positively identified by bank employees and arrested. The cash and the weapon were in the suspect's possession at the time of his arrest.
The suspect has one prior arrest in the area. Cunneen III was arrested by Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies in February 2010 on domestic battery charges.
