A Seffner man accused of killing his wife and then burning her car returned to the Tampa Bay area Friday to face a judge.
Christopher Belcher, who had fled the state, appeared in a Hillsborough County court. He is charged with second degree murder and arson in the death of his wife, Gwendolyn.
According to investigators, Belcher killed her while his young daughter slept in her room, and then burned her car on Taylor Road in Seffner.
He fled to South Carolina but was brought back to Tampa so the judge could discuss the charges and describe the evidence against him.
Belcher has been denied bond and will be in court again next week.
