Lightning general manager and NHL legend Steve Yzerman says there's no news on the NHL lockout front, but he said he's hopeful the league can start playing soon.
Yzerman, speaking to Fox 13 Thursday morning, said he's been following most of the updates on the lockout situation the same way the fans have – on Twitter.
But he said if a deal can be reached soon, he thinks games could start as soon as early December.
"I do know they're meeting. They're meeting again today," he said. "There are several issues that are very important for both sides."
Yzerman said he's "very optimistic" that a deal will be reached, and he said he's eager to get the team back on the ice.
Yzerman has a busy weekend ahead, helping out with this weekend's Heart Walk at Raymond James Stadium. Click on the video to watch our full interview with the Lightning GM.
