Police say a 20-month old child is in critical condition after nearly drowning in a pool.
Authorities received a call alerting them of the incident around 10:30 a.m.
The child was taken from the home, located at 1953 Hawaii Avenue NE in St. Petersburg, to All Children's Hospital.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, the boy and his twin sister were being watched by the nanny when the boy managed to open and get out of the front door.
The door was closed but not locked, police said.
The nanny said only a minute or two had elapsed between the last time she had seen the boy and found the door open.
She went outside to look for him and found him face down in a neighbor's pool.
The nanny got the toddler out of the pool, called 911 and began CPR.
The boy is now in the hospital in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Detectives are at the scene investigating what happened.
