Roseanne Barr gets thousands of votes for president

TAMPA (FOX 13) -

While Florida may have come through the 2012 presidential election with fewer black marks than past elections, the state still managed to generate more than a few "#SMH" comments around the internet.

Much of the talk on Facebook and Twitter was about Roseanne Barr's candidacy for president. With 90 percent of the vote counted Tuesday night, the comedienne had grabbed over 7,600 votes for president.

At that same time, the margin between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney was only 36,000 votes.

Barr was running as a candidate for the Peace and Freedom Party, which lists the legalization of marijuana as its top campaign issue. She qualified for the ballot in California and Colorado as well as Florida, but the state's close race prompted many social media users to blast the Sunshine State.

Here's a sampling of comments:

"It proves that people either don't take voting seriously or are more ignorant than ever!"

"It was wasted votes....I still can not believe that her name was even there. It tells me there are 7,600 idiots in the state of Florida.

"Disgusting. Look at the numbers...those votes affect who becomes our president."

The comments weren't all negative, though.

"I'm sure there are more than 7,600 who are very dissatisfied with the two-party stranglehold on our country and the lousy choices they have to offer," one user added.
