Repeat offender arrested on grand theft charges in Sarasota
Alfieri, 47, is in the Sarasota County Jail. He is facing two counts of grand theft. His bond is $40,000.
SARASOTA (FOX 13) -
A 47-year-old man is in the Sarasota County Jail facing two counts of grand theft stemming from the thefts of two laptop computers from an area Wal-Mart store.
Gregory Paul Alfieri is being held on a bond of $40,000.
According to a Sarasota County Sheriff's Office report the incidents occurred last month at the retail store on Cattleman Rd. Investigators say the suspect entered the Wal-Mart at 4381 Cattleman Rd. on October 17th and October 23rd at approximately 2 a.m.
In both instances surveillance cameras show Alfieri removing a security device from the computers. He then places them in the front of his pants and departs the store without paying for the items.
He is seen getting into a vehicle and driving away.
The suspect, who is homeless, has been arrested a total of 11 times in the past three years. Alfieri's prior arrests include drug, robbery and fraud charges.
He has been classified by law enforcement in Sarasota County as a habitual offender. Manatee County authorities also want to talk to him about a pair of 2010 arrests in their jurisdiction.
Alfieri is scheduled to be arraigned on the new charges on November 30th.
