
Despite threats of a big bill, St. Petersburg taxpayers will only be on the hook for $29,000 for the RNC kickoff party at the Trop in August.
Mayor Bill Foster originally estimated that the city would be short more than half a million dollars, but the mayor says that was before several agreements were signed with Tampa.
The federal government gave Tampa a $50 million grant to host the RNC. Mayor Foster believes the money from Tampa will cover all the bills except for some police and fire overtime pay.
