Ybor City will get new trees planted this week

Crews will spend this week planting trees in Ybor City.

The City of Tampa put out a schedule of where and when new trees will be planted.

The old ones were cut down several weeks ago over concerns about disease and root beds damaging sidewalks.

Residents and business owners were shocked when dozens of tree were cut down to their stumps.

Since then, crews have been taking out the root beds and preparing to plant replacement trees.

Here is the schedule the city put out:

  • Monday 10/29: Planting on Republic de Cuba between Palm and 6th Ave, both sides of street, and on N 17th Street between Palm and 9th Ave, east side of the street.
  • Tuesday 10/30: Planting on N 17th Street between Palm Ave and 6th Ave, both sides of street.
  • Wednesday 10/31: Planting on N 15th Street between 7th and 9th Ave, both sides of street, and on 8th Ave between 15th and Centro Ybor, south side of street.
  • Thursday 11/1: Planting on 9th Ave between Nuccio and Republic de Cuba, both sides of street, and on 8th Ave between Nuccio and 15th Street, both sides of street.
  • Friday 11/2: Planting on 7th Ave between 13th and Republic de Cuba, south side of street, 9th Ave between 17th and Angel Oliva (18th), and 19th and 20th Streets, south of 7th Ave, on east side of street.
  • Monday 11/5: Planting on 19th Street between 7th and 8th Ave, and on Angel Oliva (18th), south of 7th Ave, east side of street.
