We've worked for months to help local veterans get the help and benefits they've earned.
They came to FOX 29 when they got the run-around.
On Thursday, FOX 29's Claudia Gomez got an update that brought tears to one family's eyes.
On Sept. 14th, we first told you about Frank Ciampitti, a World War II vet who applied for benefits from the VA more than two years ago.
The long wait has taken a heavy toll on his wife, Palma.
On Thursday afternoon, Ciampitti's daughter got the answer they've been waiting for.
The family will finally receive benefits. They says they will receive a check for back pay as well as a monthly benefit, beginning November 1st.
Many other veterans are going through a similar situation.
Richard Scott also fought in World War II and died waiting for an answer from the VA.
After our story aired in September, an employee at the Philadelphia VA contacted the family, telling them they would have to re-apply and that it would be a lengthy process.
Korean War Vet Alexander Rupeiks is still waiting as well. Rupeiks lost part of his hearing in combat.
As he got older, his hearing worsened, but when he applied for an increase in VA benefits, he got denied repeatedly.
His case is now before an outside appeals board.
We also told you about the wife of an Army veteran who applied for a widow's pension.
Diana Petrecca finally learned Wednesday that she was denied because her income exceeds the VA limit of just over $8,000 a year - a rate which is well below the poverty level.
