SPRING HILL (FOX 13) -
The naked woman who was shot by two off-duty officers in Hernando County was armed with a gun, investigators said Monday.
The officers say they were confronted by Inga Swanson while attending a party in Spring Hill. They say the woman was not invited to the party, but showed up armed and naked.
"Upon [Swanson] returning to the residence on Orchard Way for the second time, she confronted the deputy and the officer with a firearm. The law enforcement officers reacted to the threat by discharging their firearms," the Hernando County Sheriff's Office explained in a statement to the media Monday.
The sheriff's office also said they had found Swanson's gun at the scene.
Tampa police officer William Melcher and Hernando County detective Rocky Howard, the officers involved, remain on routine administrative leave during the investigation.
