Atlanta city crews cleaned up an overgrown property in northwest Atlanta late Monday.
Janice Miller says the bad conditions resulted in her 4-year-old granddaughter to suffer numerous mosquito bites.
Miller said that the house in the Atlanta-Collier Heights neighborhood has been left unoccupied for years.
"I would describe it as a jungle because what was one pine combs are now pine trees," said Miler.
Neighbors said that the high brush is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. A swarm recently attacked a 4-year-old who was visiting her great-grandmother. The bites left quarter-sized welts.
"She over 15 mosquito bites on her face and she was placed on steroids," said Miller.
The family also says the overgrown property has been inhabited by snakes and raccoons.
City officials said that the property's owner is deceased. That owner's heirs are due for a hearing at City Hall next month.
In the meantime, city code enforcement supervisor Maj. C.J. Davis deployed crews to clear the brush late Monday.
