Police: Shooting death not Russian roulette

ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) -

Police have revealed new details in the death of a 26-year-old man in St. Petersburg.

Initially thought to have been a game of Russian roulette, police now say it turned out to be an accidental shooting.

Officers say Thomas Rady was holding a gun when it accidentally fired and hit Donnie McLendon last Saturday morning. McLendon died Wednesday.

Police said the first reports were that the men were playing Russian roulette, which turned out to be false. Instead, police said the men were actually drinking and smoking pot when the gun went off.

Rady has been charged with manslaughter.
