When Teresa Martin's attacker kicked in her front door, he probably thought she was going to be an easy victim.
"The door came in and he had the gun straight to my head, and he was demanding everything I own," she said.
It was around 2 a.m. Saturday when she was caught off guard lying in bed. Police haven't released many details but do say her attacker is 34-year-old Leonard Porter.
Martin said he started roughing her up continuing to demand money.
"He had this crazy look in his eyes like he's been possessed," she described. "He said give me everything you have in this house, and I mean everything, or you're going to die and I said I don't have anything."
She says Porter then cocked his pistol and started moving it to her head; she thought it might be the end.
That's when she started to fight back, kicking and punching in a life or death struggle. Somehow during it the gun went off and her attacker was the one slumped over near her bed. He apparently chose the wrong victim.
Now, he's in critical condition.
Two others were also arrested: Johnny Acevedo Jr. and Aurda Noel Stedman.
Martin says she knows Acevedo and says he's like family, but she believes he might have set the whole thing up.
"He knows I get a check on the third of every month," she said.
Martin is lucky to be alive; she says she's also thankful her disabled son wasn't home at the time, fearing a worse outcome.
