A Polk County judge found Leon Davis Jr. guilty in the shooting deaths of two convenience store clerks in Polk County from December 2007.
Pravinkumar Patel, 33, and Dashrath Patel, 51, were shot and killed on December 7, 2010, at their store near Lake Alfred.
Investigators say Davis went to the store after it closed, and fired through the door at the clerk inside. Pravinkumar and Dashrath Patel were outside changing a sign when Davis shot them both in the head, police said.
It was the beginning of a crime spree that ended days later when Davis went to rob an insurance office in Lake Wales, and set two women inside on fire. The two women, one of whom was pregnant, eventually died, and Davis was convicted of their murders.
Thursday, Judge Donald Jacobsen found Davis guilty of two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted first-degree murder, one count of attempted armed robbery and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Prosecutors have said they will seek the death penalty.
