An Auburndale bar wants to propose a farewell toast to a city ordinance. It prevents bars from being open on Sunday.
The co-owner of the Brew Hound Sports Lounge says the rule is outdated and that lifting it could mean a financial windfall for him and his partner.
"It could mean anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 in our pockets annually," Skip Jacobs told FOX 13 on Monday.
The Brew Hound is the only bar of it's kind in Auburndale. Other places that serve alcohol on Sundays, also serve food, so they are considered restaurants, and are exempt from the rule.
The city has prohibited bars from being open on Sunday as far back as anyone can remember. City officials say the issue hasn't even been discussed in thirty years.
The city planned to discuss the problem at a commission meeting tonight.
