A 24-year-old Bradenton man was arrested Saturday on driving under the influence charges after he crashed his vehicle into a Manatee County deputy's cruiser.
Armando Garcia-Ramos is also facing one count of operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license. He was booked into the Manatee County Jail where he is being held on a bond of $2,120.
According to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report the deputy was traveling north on 14th St. West just after midnight when Garcia-Ramos drove a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro into his path.
The deputy attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful. The cruiser struck the passenger side of the Camaro before crashing through a sign.
Inside the suspect vehicle were several opened alcohol beverages. Garcia-Ramos attempted to flee the scene on foot but was quickly captured.
On September 8th Garcia-Ramos was arrested on a similar charge. A passenger in the Camaro, Pedro Mejia Ramirez, was not hurt. He is the registered owner of the vehicle the report states.
Garcia-Ramos and the deputy were not hurt.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Additional charges may be filed against the suspect as the investigation continues. Garcia-Ramos was also arrested in February of this year on a domestic battery charge.
