Detectives with the Lake Wales Police Department have identified and arrested two men in connection with a violent assault that left a Polk County man in critical condition.
Dominic Antwon Richards, 19, and Brian Lemont Coleman, 23, are facing a variety of charges including aggravated assault. The pair was arrested Friday and booked into the Polk County Jail.
According to a Lake Wales Police Department report an unidentified man was injured during an altercation on C St. on Sunday, September 16th. Investigators say during that incident two other people were also injured including a man who suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.
Witnesses say the violence was triggered by a disagreement between several people. Coleman was seen punching the man in the head with a closed fist. He then allegedly picked him up and slammed him to the ground causing him to lose consciousness.
Richards allegedly threw a brick at the victim's head causing serious injuries to his face. Both suspects are familiar to law enforcement in Polk County.
The victim was airlifted by helicopter to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Richards has prior arrests for burglary, petit theft and trespassing.
Coleman's priors include robbery by sudden snatching and violation of probation.
