Polk detectives are looking for a driver they say hit and killed a pedestrian early Thursday morning in Davenport.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, 38-year-old Adrian Rivas was walking home along U.S. Highway 27 near Ronald Reagan Parkway when he was hit around 6 a.m.
Investigators say he was thrown a great distance, and they believe a large commercial-type truck probably hit him.
Rivas was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Investigators have one clue: they found amber-colored, flush mounted oval lights at the scene that they say are missing from whatever vehicle hit Rivas.
Anyone who may have been in the area and seen anything is asked to contact traffic homicide Sgt. Greg Goreck at 863.287.2562.
