Police have arrested a Bloomingdale High School teacher, saying he was plotting to have another teacher killed.
Officers arrested James J. Pepe, a history teacher at Bloomingdale High.
According to the Plant City Police Department, Pepe tried to hire someone to kill Robert Meredith, a former co-worker in the Hillsborough County School system.
Police say they were contacted by someone who alerted them that Pepe tried to hire them to murder a former co-worker.
Undercover detectives contacted Pepe, and over the course of several phone calls, he said he was willing to pay $2,000 to have Meredith killed, police said.
Pepe was arrested Thursday, and is charged with solicitation of first-degree murder.
Meredith was a social studies teacher at Strawberry Crest High School in 2009, according to a phone list the school posted online.
