Hall, 22, suffered serious injuries in the early morning crash and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) -
A suspected impaired driver fled a traffic stop and crashed into a tree early Saturday morning in St. Petersburg.
Joshua Joel Hall, 22, was transported to a nearby hospital where he is listed in serious condition. Three other occupants suffered minor injuries.
Charges are pending.
According to a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office report deputies attempted to stop Hall's vehicle at the intersection of 18th Ave. and 28th St. North just after 1 a.m. Investigators believe he was driving under the influence.
Hall would not stop and instead accelerated. Deputies initiated a brief pursuit but pulled back when the suspect vehicle began traveling at a high rate of speed.
At the intersection of 11th Ave and 25th St. Hall lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree. Inside the vehicle deputies found several bags of marijuana as well as open containers of alcohol.
Hall was also operating the motor vehicle without a valid driver's license. This is not his first encounter with law enforcement. He's been arrested twice since 2009 on drug-related charges.
The investigation continues.
