Pasco Sheriff: Third suspect still on the loose

A resident of the Moon Lake development in New Port Richey got more than he bargained for when he went on the Internet dating site – singles.com.

That's where the 44-year-old man met Bobbie Joe Curtis, 40. Not long after he invited the Pasco County woman and her 16-year-old son to move in with him.

According to authorities sometime Friday night the pair with some help from an accomplice tied the man up, beat him up and left him for dead. They also stole his van and some possessions.

The Curtises were eventually located and arrested. They are facing a variety of charges including false imprisonment and attempted murder.

Deputies are hunting for the accomplice, a woman in her 20s known as ‘Nessie.'

Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco discussed the disturbing case during a Saturday press conference. They are actively pursuing ‘Nessie.'

"Our teams are going to go out there looking," Nocco said. "If anybody knows where Nessie is, if anybody associated with her knows, give her up now because if not, we're going to be knocking at your door."

The unidentified homeowner was not the only one injured late Friday/early Saturday. A 69-year-old neighbor who investigated what he thought was unusual activity at the home was struck in the head with a baseball bat.

When he came to he called 9-1-1.

Investigators say the three suspects took a variety of items from the victim's residence including some guns.

Detectives are still trying to determine why the Curtises and ‘Nessie' did what they did.

Nocco: "We're not sure if this was plotted beforehand or at the spur of the moment. It's an on-going investigation."

The homeowner was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition. His identity is being withheld due to the fact that the third suspect is still at large.

His neighbor suffered non-life-threatening injuries, was taken to a nearby medical facility where he was treated and released.
