A Tarpon Springs man was hospitalized with severe burns after the boat he was working on exploded.
It happened near Centerwood Drive around 6 p.m.
Authorities say the man had first and second degree burns over 60 percent of his body. His name has not been released.
The cause of the explosion is still under investigation. East Lake District Fire Chief Mark Teolis said the man had been working to clean the boat, but wasn't sure what he was cleaning it with.
The state fire marshal is now investigating the situation. The man was taken to Tampa General Hospital's burn unit; there is no word on his condition.
