PALM HARBOR (FOX 13) -
It's now been exactly one and a half years since 35-year-old Kelly Rothwell disappeared. The cadet from Indian Rocks Beach was last seen leaving a restaurant in Clearwater in March of last year.
Wednesday night, her friends held a vigil for her in Palm Harbor.
They also put together a self-defense class for women, because they believe if Kelly had known some basic techniques, she might still be around.
Rothwell's boyfriend, 47-year-old David Perry, is considered the only suspect in her disappearance, but he hasn't been charged.
Rothwell had lunch with a friend on Saturday, March 12th and said she was going to break up with Perry. She had also made plans to move out at the same time. Friends reported her missing that night.
Perry took off for New York, and then refused to speak to detectives who traveled there to question him.
Pinellas sheriff's detectives believe Rothwell is deceased. Her body has never been found.
