Florida Governor Rick Scott is doing a little homework, in the midst of an education listening tour that stopped in Pinellas County Wednesday.
Scott met with teachers and parents at Madeira Beach Fundamental School, sitting down to hear from them what's working and what isn't.
Not surprisingly, the topics of teacher pay and FCAT testing came up. The governor says he is using this as an opportunity to figure out what kinds of policies are needed to ensure Florida students are ready for the future.
"They care about these kids, they want their children to be ready for a college or be ready for a career, so they clearly care about that. Everyone one of these is different. We're here to get feedback and to listen," Scott said.
Some parents worry this is mainly a PR stunt for the governor's office. In any case, Scott will visit Orlando Thursday.
