A former PTA president was arrested last week, accused of stealing
almost $17,000 from the organization.
Lisa Shirah, 34, faces a variety of
charges after she allegedly took money that was intended for the Springhead
Elementary Parent-Teacher Association. Detectives
say Shirah deposited three PTA checks onto her personal account and cashed six
others for a total of $16,678.48.
Shirah was the president of the
Springhead Elementary PTA from October 2011 until January 2012, according to
investigators. She then served as the treasurer
for the PTA until July 26.
Shirah was released on bond Friday, according
to her arrest report.
