A Plato's Closet customer chased and tackled a man who tried to rob the store Monday afternoon, and held him until deputies arrived, authorities said.
George E. Nunnally, 59, was arrested and charged with burglary and battery.
Deputies say Nunnally came into the Plato's Closet on U.S. 19 in Palm Harbor around 1:15, and went into a back room, where he tried to get into a safe.
An employee who saw him go into the room followed him and confronted him. The employee, 31-year-old Kayli Gibbons, tried to block the door. Investigators say Nunnally and Gibbons got into a physical altercation when Nunnally tried to escape.
Nunnally ran out the door, and a customer, 22-year-old Dominick Deangelin, went after him, deputies said. Deangelin caught up to Nunnally, dragged him back into the store and held him on the ground until deputies arrived.
Nunnally was taken to the hospital prior to going to the Pinellas County Jail. Gibbons, the employee, was treated for minor injuries.
