A 22-year-old convicted felon released from state prison in July was arrested Sunday charged with killing his grandmother and great-grandmother.
Another woman not related to the suspect was also injured during the commission of the crime.
Azael A. Stevens was booked into the Marion County Jail where he is being held without bond. He is facing a variety of charges including two counts of felony murder.
According to a Marion County Sheriff's Office report deputies were dispatched to the 15000 block of Southwest 19th Ave. Rd. in Ocala just before 2 a.m. in response to a shots fired call.
When they arrived they discovered a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound in need of medical attention. Inside the residence they found the deceased women. Their names have not been released.
Approximately 20 minutes later Stevens was found driving a car belonging to one of the victims. He was taken into custody without incident but refused to speak to deputies.
Stevens is no stranger to law enforcement. He was released from state prison in July after serving 13 months for a conviction out of Marion County on bribery and drug charges.
According to the Florida Department of Corrections database Stevens moved to Newark, New Jersey following his release from prison.
In spite of his age the suspect has already served two stints in the state prison system. His prior arrest record also includes charges of armed carjacking, resisting arrest and battery.
In addition to the murder counts Stevens is also facing one count of attempted felony murder, one count of grand theft auto, one count of operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license and one count of robbery.
The suspect turned 22 on Saturday.
