LAKELAND (FOX 13) -

A 30-year-old Lakeland man was killed and three others injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 4 near Branch Forbes Rd. early Saturday morning.

James Dennis Clyatt was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center where he later died. The incident occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m.

Three other people in his vehicle were also injured, one seriously.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report a 2007 Toyota Camry driven by Kiesha Montoya of Lakeland was traveling west in the outside lane when it attempted to pass a 2004 Buick Rendezvous.

Investigators say the Camry was traveling faster than the Buick but Montoya's vehicle struck the back of the Buick pushing it forward. It veered onto the north shoulder of the roadway and overturned.

Montoya, 26, was not hurt. Alcohol was not a factor in her driving and she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Investigators are still trying to determine who was driving the Buick. The three other occupants of the vehicle – Norma Alicia Hunter, 38, Linda Garzoria, 27, and Jason Allen Hunter – were also transported to LRMC.

Garzoria, a Lakeland resident and Clyatt's fiancé, suffered serious injuries in the crash. The Hunters, who also live in Lakeland, had minor injuries.

The official cause of the crash is still under investigation and charges are pending.
