A 34-year-old Largo man is facing a variety of charges after he crashed his vehicle into two unoccupied homes in Clearwater on Friday.
Michael Lee Richardson was already on drug offender probation at the time of his arrest.
According to a City of Clearwater report the suspect was traveling west in the 1600 block of Bellrose Dr. North just after 6 p.m. when for unknown reasons he lost control of his 2006 Honda Passport.
The vehicle struck the southwest corner of a residence at 1650 Bellrose causing approximately $7,500 in damages. He attempted to flee by backing the Passport up but wound up crashing into a mail box at a home across the street.
Richardson didn't stop there. He continued eastbound until he crossed the north curb of the roadway and struck a home at 1668 Bellrose.
Investigators say he caused approximately $7,500 in damages to that structure as well. The vehicle came to a stop on top of a concrete garden in a bedroom of the home.
Richardson, who has a long list of drug-related arrests, was transported to a nearby hospital for observation. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the incident.
Once he is cleared by medical personnel he will be booked into the Pinellas County Jail on at least one count of leaving the scene of a crash with property damage. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
Richardson was placed on drug offender probation in July 2011 for a conviction out of Pinellas County for possession of a controlled substance.
