An arrest has been made in connection with a string of burglaries at Asian restaurants in Tampa, and the suspect is also accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars in jewelry both here and in other areas of the country.
Deputies said Tuesday that they are charging 35-year-old John Scalise and 41-year-old Kathy Garcia in the case.
We reported on the string of Asian restaurant burglaries weeks ago. Scalise is also accused of stealing $35,000 in jewelry from a Sears at the University Mall.
Scalise and Garcia were found in Atlantic City, N.J., after burglarizing more Asian restaurants and a Macy's Department store, deputies said. Scalise stole $66,000 in jewelry there, according to the sheriff's office.
Both are being held in New Jersey right now. Saclise is being held without bond.
