Dozens of moms in St. Petersburg spent Labor Day rallying on behalf of a different interpretation of the holiday.
Supporters of the group Improving Birth took to South Straub Park, to promote evidence-based maternity care for women in the Bay Area. The rally is just one of about 100 held in major cities across the nation this Labor Day.
Moms say their message is for women to educate themselves before the birthing process.
"Ask questions. Ask your doctor, 'Why would I be induced? Is there a reason to, or if there isn't. There are other ways for the baby to come along and to make sure the babies come on their own time, not to be rushed into it," said Improving Birth's Laura Irmis.
