ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) -

Investigators with the St. Petersburg Police Department are gathering information in what appears to be an accidental drowning.

An unidentified 30-year-old man was pulled from the swimming pool at the Brandywine Apartment Complex Sunday morning.

He was transported to St. Petersburg General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities are still trying to identify the victim.

According to a St. Petersburg Police Department report emergency service personnel were dispatched to the complex in the 1600 block of 68th St. North just after 11 a.m.

A resident saw the man at the bottom of the pool and pulled him out. A witness told deputies they had seen the victim in the water earlier and everything seemed fine.

The deceased said to the witness he was going to see how long he could swim under water.

At this point detectives aren't sure if the man was a resident, the guest of a resident or if he just jumped in the pool.

If you have any information about this incident please contact the St. Petersburg Police Department.
