Though he
won't be the GOP nominee for president, Ron Paul still has plenty of loyal
supporters -- many who are gathering in Tampa
for a three-day Paul Festival.
It kicked off Friday at the Florida State Fairgrounds. Speakers, booths and music highlighted the event.
Paul supporters say even though he won't be going head to head with the president, this event is more about the message of liberty and constitutional values than the man himself.
"Becoming president isn't necessarily making history. Plenty of our presidents are damn forgettable. The Ron Paul revolution, if you want to call it that, the Tea Party movement, he started. That's historical," said Daryl lanzon, a Paul supporter from Alaska.
Paul is not expected at any of the Paul festival events, which run through Sunday, but he will be at the USF Sundome Sunday. That event is sold out.
