TAMPA (FOX 13) -
Law enforcement officers across Florida will be here next week to help with
the Republican National Convention, and local business owners want them to feel
right at home.
So they're putting together welcome bags that will include
items like sunscreen, chapstick, coupons for local restaurants and keepsakes
from some of our biggest attractions.
"Because they will not see all the nice things in Tampa, obviously," Major Sophia Teague of Tampa police said. "They're going to be
working so they're not going to be able to go out and see our museums and Busch Gardens
and Buccaneers football."
The items were carefully chosen. Business and city leaders
hope the welcome bags will also serve as an advertising tool. They want to
encourage visiting officers to bring their families here for vacation.
