A power surge forced an evacuation at the Vinoy Hotel in St. Petersburg on Monday morning.
The surge affected both the original hotel and the newer building, and we're told one or two motors burned out on the hotel's air conditioning system.
A distinctive burning smell wafted through the hotel, causing people to call the front desk. Fire alarms also went off.
You could see some coming from parts of the hotel, but no fire was ever spotted.
No one was injured.
