Getting back into the swing of things

BOCA CIEGA (FOX 13) -

It's official: Summer is over for a lot of students in the Tampa Bay area.

Just about everyone but Hillsborough returns to class Monday morning, and that includes Boca Ceiga in Pinellas County – one of the many excited to welcome back its students.

Monday will be a lot of getting to know your teachers and getting adjusted to schedules and new rooms, but most students and teacher say they're ready.

Each school will be setup a little differently, but here at Boca Ceiga students will be walking in this morning and reporting to what they call their safety net teachers – kind of like a homeroom.

That's where they will receive schedules and rundowns for the year. Then it's off to class.

So hopefully all the back to school shopping is done because time is up. School is back in session.

Six elementary schools in Pinellas County will have extended hours. Starting Monday, Fairmount Park, High Point and Woodlawn will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Campbell Park, Lakewood and Melrose will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

At Boca Ceiga, it's first bell at 7:05 sharp. The preparations are done for teachers, and today it should start paying off.

We'll have live reports from Pinellas, Polk and Pasco Monday morning on Good Day Tampa Bay.
