BARTOW (FOX 13) -

A Bartow woman turned in her son for manufacturing methamphetamine in their home.

Robert Daniel Cannaday, 30, was booked into the Polk County Jail Saturday night on several charges including drug possession.

According to a Bartow Police Department report Mary Cannaday showed up at headquarters just before 3:30 p.m. She told investigators she found her son in possession of a device used to make illegal narcotics.

Several officers were dispatched to the Cannaday residence at 170 East Vine St. where they found what appeared to be a pipe bomb.

The area was evacuated and the State Fire Marshal's Bomb Squad was called in to investigate. The device was rendered safe and a search of the premises was conducted.

Two additional improvised explosive devices were located and disarmed. Investigators also confiscated several chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Approximately one gram of the finished product was located in the Cannaday home. Members of the Polk County Fire Department were also called to the scene to properly dispose of the chemicals.

Cannaday has three prior arrests in Polk County since December. All are drug-related.
