TAMPA (FOX 13) -
The race is on to land former Gator running back and Olympic sprinter Jeff Demps. Demps' agent told FOX 13's Kevin O'Donnell today that the decision could come as early as this afternoon, but it could drag out another couple days.
"The Bucs have put an offer on the table," said Demps' agent, Nohemy Baltodano.
Demps likes Tampa and the Bucs are on his short list.
"The situation continues to change, as 20 teams have called so far," added Baltodano.
Demps' camp is exploring all options and the situation has "drastically changed over the last 24 hours," said Baltodano. Bucs General Manager Mark Dominik has been in constant contact with Demps' team.
Weighing heavily in Demps' decision is what his role will be with whichever team he chooses. In four years at Florida, Demps had 2,470 career yards rushing and 23 touchdowns.
He did not attend any college football senior all-star games or take part in any NFL draft workouts.
Demps' sole focus until this week was on the Olympics. He didn't run on the USA's 4x100 team, but did earn a silver medal in London for being part of the team.
