UPDATE: Tampa police conducted a large-scale search Wednesday afternoon after people saw a man dragging a woman into a car in north Tampa.
The incident, which officers were treating as a kidnapping, turned out to be a dispute between a father and his teenage daughter.
Here is what happened, according to the Tampa Police Department: the 16-year-old girl missed her bus and called her father for a ride. She also called her grandparents, who are her legal guardians.
The girl's grandparents instructed her not to go with her father, and to wait for them.
When she told her father that, he got out of the car, grabbed her, put her in the car and drove her to her grandparents.
Officers found the uninjured teenager nearby shopping with her grandmother, police said. No arrests were made; no charges were filed.
Tampa police are investigating an apparent kidnapping.
Officers say it happened near 2115 East Hillsborough Avenue.
According to the Tampa Police Department, a man dragged a woman into his car, then drove away.
The care was caught on surveillance video. Detectives say it is a white, newer model Crown Victoria or Mercury Grand Marquis with Pennsylvania plates.
According to TPD, the suspect is a black male, last seen in a white tank top and jean shorts. Witnesses said the victim appeared to be an adult female.
Witnesses tell FOX 13's Josh Cascio that they saw two other people in the car -- a female driver, and a male passenger.
TPD says officers are conducting a large-scale search in the area.
We'll have more information as it becomes available.
