Authorities in Pinellas County are asking for the public's assistance in locating a home invasion suspect.
Tommy Mitchell is a convicted felon who investigators believe may have committed more than one crime.
According to a Clearwater Police Department report the suspect approached an elderly woman at a home on Orangeview Ave. on August 1st.
He allegedly identified himself as ‘Joe Moon' and asked the woman if she wanted her car detailed. They agreed on a price of $50 and the suspect entered the woman's garage where her vehicle was parked.
After Mitchell, 42, finished working on the car he entered the victim's residence without invitation. The suspect claimed he had a heart condition and needed a glass of water to take some medication.
When the woman went into the kitchen investigators say Mitchell began looking around the house. After the woman paid him $50 Mitchell said he now wanted $150 for the work he did.
When the victim went into her bedroom to get more money in order to get Mitchell out of her home he allegedly followed her. The report states he pushed her down, took her money and fled on foot.
Detectives say Mitchell may have committed similar crimes and are following several leads on his whereabouts. The suspect is a transient.
Mitchell, who served six months in state prison for a cocaine conviction out of Brevard County, uses several aliases including Wally Marks, John Moon, Tony and Alex Rico.
He has also been arrested several times in Pinellas County since 2006 on a variety of charges including marijuana possession, operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license, retail theft and violation of probation.
The suspect has several distinctive tattoos on his arms. Among those are a ‘Playboy' bunny, a cocktail glass and a pair of dice.
