Tropical Depression 7, which is tracking toward the Caribbean, could become Tropical Storm Gordon as soon as Friday.
On Friday morning, it sat out in the Atlantic with winds of 35mps, heading west but with a track to curve northwest over the next few days.
That would bring it right through the Caribbean by middle of next week, and future models – though very premature – show it has a chance to continue to curve into the Gulf if it develops.
"Tropical Depression 7 will likely continue to move west into the Caribbean and develop into a Tropical Storm by this weekend," FOX 13 Meteorologist Dave Osterberg said. "But another tropical wave coming off the coast of Africa may also develop this weekend as well."
The track seems similar to Ernesto, which remained south of Florida and made landfall on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, bringing heavy wind and rain.
We'll continue to monitor the storm's development today.
