Teacher moves schools after orangutan comment on Facebook

BRADENTON (FOX 13) -

A Bay area teacher is off the hook and back at school despite a post on Facebook that suggested a student might be the "evolutionary link between orangutans and humans."

Lauren Orban was a music teacher at Rogers Garden Elementary in Bradenton at the time she made the comment, which included the student's initials.

The comment sparked outrage from parents – even a protest from dozens of parents and students.

At the time, she received a warning, and officials were looking into revoking her teaching license, but that won't happen. Officials said she's teaching at a different school this year.

And the family of the child says they're OK with that decision.
