TAMPA (FOX 13) -

A new widow is speaking out about her husband being killed in Afghanistan, and what she thinks about the war.

Staff Sgt. Matthew Sitton was killed last week when an IED exploded. His widow, Sarah Sitton, and their 9-month-old son Brodey, appeared before reporters at the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Wednesday, where Sarah's mom works.

"I know I can't be angry at the military, because it is what he chose to do," she said.

Matthew was a stand-out athlete at Indian Rocks Christian, and always wanted to be in the military. When he was killed, he was a sniper in the Army.

Sarah said during her last conversation with him, he told her not to worry. They planned what they would do when he came home in September, including taking their son to the zoo.

Now raising Brodey will be up to her.

"We're going to teach him who (his dad) was, and what he stood for," she said.

Sgt. Sitton's body is expected to be brought back to the Tampa Bay area by the end of the week.
